This is a specimen of Female Mosquito. The Female Mosquito is the more vicious of the sexes, but only because they need protein from blood to produce their eggs. Contrary to fiction inspired myth, mosquitoes are rarely found in amber. Biting midges and gnats, which are often mistaken for mosquitoes, are much more common.
