The Rectum is the last part of the large intestines, and terminates at the anus, it stores feces in preparation for elimination. This rather inelegant, yet vital, function of this organ seems at odds with the beauty of this histologically treated and stained slide. Who would have thought that a dog's rectum would yield such cool looking views?
