Frog skin is so water permeable that frogs can usually absorb all the moisture they
need directly through their skin. The color patterns are ususally designed to allow them to blend in with the background though there
are many poisonous species whose skin does the opposite in order to advertise their poisonous nature. They can also act as a kind of
reproductive advertising for males, similar to the feathers of a pea cock.
