Moth legs tend to have numerous minor projections which themselves are covered with numerous hairs. The number, size and placement of these hairs is one of the factors that can be used to distinguish between closely related species.

When this moth was dissected, wing scales wound up all over the place. That's why a number of them can be seen here. The legs have hooklike projections on the foot but the point downward instead of upward as they did in the fruitfly. The upper leg has a smoother appearance than the lower part of the leg.
