You might think that a microscope slide has true corners and a straight, clean edge. To the naked eye, it gives that impression. But like a razor blade, it gives a different impression when seen under a microscope!

You'll find tht many man made objects look much cruder when seen microscopically. This is because the appearance is designed to appeal to the naked eye and the microscopic aspects aren't usually considered except where they affect the function of the object. While it is certainly true that a microscope slide was intended to be placed under a microscope, it is not with the intention that the slide itself will be examined!
