The Pollen is the male gamete of plants. There are two different types of pollen, the sticky, clumpy pollen that is spread from flower to flower by insects and other animals, and airborne pollen from plants that are wind pollinated. It is the latter type of pollen which comes from grasses and other wind pollinated plants that causes allergies, not the pollen from flowers.
